I'm a firm believer that there is an artist in all of us. Anybody can create someting, it just takes practice. Fortunately, I tapped into my artist within at a very young age. I started with doodling and drawing, then advanced to sketching and shading, until finally the stars aligned and put me in the path of the late, David Hickman.
He is the sole reason I can paint; the sole reason I love to paint. Here is how I got started - per David's advice. I copied the greatest artists of all time:
Picasso, Matisse, and O'Keefe among many. This collection is just a few of the ones I copied. They currently hang in the homes of my mother, and my sisters who were the lucky recipients of my early
and "free" work. If you have ever had an interest in painting, I suggest you do the same - copy the work of an artist you admire. Don't be hard on yourself, just have fun, and watch your inner artist
